Volunteering in Nepal Opportunities – VCAP Nepal – in Nepal Orphanages & Schools…
VCAP Nepal’s Orphanage Aid Volunteering Program is an enriching and life changing experience for our volunteers as well as for the children too. In this program volunteers will be placed in an orphanage. Some placements allow the volunteer to live within the orphanage premises; however, volunteers can also choose to be placed with our local host family located within a walk-able distance from the orphanage home. As well as being very rewarding, these placements can be physically and emotionally demanding. Your role as an Orphanage Volunteer is to be a responsible guide to the children in their every activity. The age of the Orphanage children will be mostly 5 to 15 years old.
What you will be doing will vary in each orphanage. Most of the orphanages in Nepal are poor resourced, under staffed, and are struggling to run their programs. There is urgent need of any kinds of help and support. There are many areas where volunteers can use their education, skills, and time for making meaningful contributions in the life of orphan kids of Nepal. Helps are urgently needed in education, skill development trainings, sanitation, and administrative works.
VCAP Nepal runs various educational and skill developments training programs for orphans. So depending on the needs of project and skill/interest of participants, volunteers can get involved in any of following activities:
Helping kids to do homework, monitor academic progress, and make sure kids complete next day’s homework.
Teach English (3-4 hours a day) in orphanage or school (when the orphanage kids go to schools during the day)
Sanitation (helping kids in brushing teeth, shower, and personal hygiene)
Organizing games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extracurricular activities
Taking kids on educational tours, Zoo, fun parks etc.
Child care services for orphans who cannot go to school.
Skill training opportunities for the children who cannot go school (because they are over age)
Help kids to dress up and reach school safely.
Help in food preparation, distribution, kitchen, and garden.
Help with administrative works of the orphanages.
Help in other activities or programs designed for kids (If any)
