Travel to Rwanda to help orphans
Pastor Charles Mugisha was born to Rwandan parents in an Uganda refugee camp. Sadly at age 14 he was recruited to be a child intelligence officer for guerrilla warfare. During this time he leaned to pray and accepted Christ. Charles drafted the plan for African New Life Ministries while attending college at Multnomah Bible Seminary in Oregon and later went on with his wife Florence to start African New Life Ministries in Rwanda in 2001. They started with 29 children who were chosen for sponsorship.
Help orphans
Today they offer many opportunities for humanitarian travel to work with children. There is a street kids ministry that people can take part in and help orphans. Due to the genocide many children in Rwanda either have no parents or their parents cannot feed them or take care of them due to poverty. You can have the chance to help feed these children when they come to the center or help them clean their clothes. They have time set aside to play there and they like to play games with visitors. There is also a Bible study time and you can help share the Word of Christ to these children. You do not need to speak the language, there are people there that can translate for you.
Sponshorship
There is are six different orphan homes that are run by African New Life Ministries. These children are often the ones that are available for sponsorship. They live in a home with other children where they are fed and able to get an education. Even if you cannot go to Rwanda you can sponsor a child and change a life forever.
If you enjoy being around children and want to make a lasting impact you can look into short or long term missions with this ministry. These children have lived through a terrible war and many have lost family members and friends. Even a short humanitarian travel trip can let these children know that they are loved and that there is someone who cares enough to share some smiles, laughs and love to these little ones.
