Orphans lost everything in a fire tragedy

Kaloleni Care Support Centre

We are based in South B Oloo street Fuata Nyayo slums Mukuru. On behalf of all my orphans, I request you to send necessary assistance. We recently lost everything in a fire tragedy that struck the slums on the 28th of February 2011, at 9am and got under control at about 4pm Kenyan time. Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) has revealed that at least 8,969 people, 40% being children, are in direct need of relief and support.

We did not salvage anything, and right now all the 70 orphans under my care have completely nothing, not even a shelter to call home, clothing or even food to eat. With the onset of the long rains now pounding the city, the children are exposed to the elements, they sleep in the cold, with some of them already suffering from bouts of pneumonia and flu and fever, and diarrhoeal infections. I am personally constrained having lost everything in the fire and cannot effectively provide for their medical and other needs.

However we do wish to inform you that we are a registered entity known as Kaloleni Care Support Centre under the Ministry of Gender, Culture and Sports Kenya on February 24, 2006.

I am a lady who is not employed and I live in Kenya and currently hosting so many orphans that came to my house for help during the post election violence that rocked Kenya in 2007 / 2008. To date I live with 70 orphans some of which lost their parents to HIV/Aids and others to post election violence. Recently our slum residence where I live with these children got burnt and we lost everything, as I write we do not have any accommodation and we have been sleeping in the fields on bear ground with these children as we wait for well wishers to come to our rescue and help us with any kind of donations in terms of food, clothing and even rebuilding. Most of these children are not going to school due to lack of finances. I will appreciate any kind of assistance accorded to me to help these children if not all to realize their dreams.
    Thanks in advance.
