God’s Glory Children Foundation
God’s Glory Children Foundation is a non-profit organisation with the aim to help orphaned and needy children in Ghana. We primarily work in Kasoa (close to Accra – the capital of Ghana) but are hoping to expand the work we do to more areas in this country.
We are a newly founded and small foundation that hopes to touch the lives of many. We are run locally and thus know all of the people we help and know their exact needs. Also through being run by locals we are in harmony with the local customs and cultures that many overseas organisations find a barrier to success while working in Ghana. This in turn means that we work very efficiently and do not have the cost of an overseas office. In addition, we pride ourselves in the fact that we have no paid position, which means that all donations go directly towards the projects that we run.
In Kasoa, we work in partnership with Maranatha prep-school where we are currently sponsoring 43 children, paying for their school and lunch fees and providing them with uniforms and textbooks. We are looking for more sponsors to help these children and with just 535 Ghana Cedi’s ($340, £210, €250) per year you could fully pay for a child’s education.
Many of the children we support would otherwise be working on the streets as they would not be able to pay their school fees. In Swuadro Bobekoma (a rural area also within the Central Region of Ghana) we are also supporting 25 children at the moment; however, due to the lack of funding they have not been able to start schooling as of now.
Furthermore, at the moment we receive volunteers from abroad who help teach the children at Maranatha prep-school. In the future we would also like to receive more volunteers also for other schools, the church and to help us in our quest to improve the health of the children we support, by placing the volunteers in the local hospitals. We are hoping to not only provide the children with health care but also educate them on how they can care for themselves and their families, for example through HIV/Aids awareness campaigns at schools.
At the moment we are raising funds to build a home for the orphaned and needy children, providing them with a roof over their heads and a family atmosphere. At this home we would also like to build a school to provide them with the needed education (without school fees) to give all of them the key to a brighter future.
